Come Fall … by Pastor Rick Shannon
Someday I’ll do all those things now pushed aside by life’s demands;
Follow plans once tightly held, now loosed from busy hands.
I’ll raise my sights to newer heights; my view will be awfully tall.
I can’t do them now, but I surely will – when the work all gets done
come fall.
As is, I’m hard-pressed right now with everything around me
Swirling like a treacherous storm whose eye has finally found me.
All this I mention with firm intention to scale a higher wall.
I can’t just now but I surely will – when the work all gets done
come fall.
I’ll have more time for family, time to contemplate and pray;
Time to see if newfound wings can soar above the fray.
I’ll laugh more than ever before with real friends – having finally found them.
I’ll sniff at flowers, marvel at clouds, seeking silver linings around them.
That – and much, much more – is just on the other side of that rim.
Top that hill, pause for a moment, and a whole new life will begin;
Life like a skyscraper reaching to heaven, proud and standing tall.
I’m not sure I have the time to wait – ‘till the work all gets done.
Come, fall!
